/rɪˈɡrɛt/
To feel sad, repentant, or disappointed over (something that one has done or failed to do).Over the past few years, I have remembered many things. Most of them being my regrets. I have clearly remembered how I should NOT have packed my bag for my trip, how I should have not bought snacks, but bought a lot of socks instead.
Why do we regret?
According to various sources, we regret if we think a single choice could have given better outcomes. Regret is a negative emotion that occurs when someone's past actions, if changed, may have achieved them better results. Regret is often closely associated with guilt or shame.
For instance, you confessed to your school friend, your crush, but they reject you. You may regret ever confessing, breaking your friendship apart and would never confess to anyone in fear of rejection and humiliation.
Or you may feel free of a burden of carrying around some extra feelings for your friend and be free of any regrets of not confessing.
So what do you do with this regret?
Some people feel their regret too deeply. Like they should REALLY not have done this but done that. Most want to turn back time to go back to that period and hope to change their actions. But most go with the flow and try to move on with them.
Shouted at your mom? Gone into engineering instead of commerce? Invested in a bad company? Bought a suit for a lot of money?
Regrets are of many types. But the thing people really need to know: You cannot turn back time. You certainly cannot wallow your present time thinking of what ifs. You should not think of others, their position in life, their results.
Think about what to do next. Wake up in the morning and write down few to dos for the day, for the month, and the goal you now need to achieve. Baby steps.

A step at a time, can do a lot more than sitting and looking at a wall.
